Clear aligner treatment involves a series of custom-made, nearly invisible plastic trays that fit tightly over your teeth to gently straighten them over time. Clear aligners can correct a variety of dental issues, including crooked teeth, gapped teeth, overbites, underbites, and crossbites.
The aligners are removable, so you can take them out as needed for eating and oral hygiene. Each set of aligners is worn for approximately two weeks before moving on to the next set in the series so that your teeth gradually move into position.
Clear aligner systems use the latest advances in 3D computer imaging technology to depict your complete treatment plan, from the initial position of your teeth to the final desired position.
Before deciding if clear aligners are the right treatment for you, have your teeth and mouth examined by us. We’ll examine your teeth, gums, jaw, and more to determine if clear aligners are the best option for you. In some cases, you may still require traditional braces to correct certain issues, such as a severe overbite or severely misaligned teeth.
Once the exam is complete, our dentist will discuss your options with you and answer any questions you may have. Our dentist may also take X-rays of your mouth for a closer look at what’s going on in your mouth. If the examination shows a clear need for orthodontic treatment, they’ll discuss the best treatment options with you so you can make an informed decision and feel confident in the choice you make!
Clear aligners are a great alternative to traditional metal braces because they can be removed at any time. While your clear aligners are out, you’ll have an easier time cleaning your teeth and eating the foods you love. But remember that they should be worn for at least 22 hours per day for best results. Since you can remove them any time you want, you can also take them along when attending special events or when taking photos. When it’s time to put them back in, just brush your teeth and pop them back in!
Once your teeth are straight and healthy, you’ll still need to wear a retainer at night after your clear aligners come off to maintain the results. Talk with our dentist about the type of retainer they recommend to keep your stunning new smile looking great for years to come!
